Mento Nightline
Street racing on neon-walled night circuits. Pick one of three original cars, paint it, and start fourth on the grid against five rivals who brake late and fight for the line. Nail the launch for a perfect start, drift to charge nitro, tuck into a slipstream, then burn it all on the straight. Two circuits, three difficulty levels, and your best race and lap times are saved.

How Mento Nightline works
A race is six cars over three laps of a night circuit, and you start fourth on the grid so there is always someone in front of you. The lights count you down: press the throttle as they go green for a clean launch, and hold it through the countdown instead and you leave in a cloud of wheelspin. Cars have different characters — one quick, one heavy, one balanced — and the difficulty setting changes how close to perfect the rivals drive rather than how fast their cars are.
Nitro is not given, it is earned. Holding a drift through a corner fills it, and so does sitting in a rival's slipstream, which also quietly adds a few per cent to your top speed while you are in it. Spent nitro raises both acceleration and top speed until the bottle runs dry, so the question is never whether to use it but where: a long straight pays far more than a corner exit.
Walls slide you along rather than stopping you dead, but grinding them costs the speed you spent a whole straight building, and running the wrong way down the track is called out on the HUD. Each track keeps two records on this device: your best race time and your best single lap — the lap is the one to chase when a race has already got away from you.
Tips for Mento Nightline
- Press gas the instant the lights go green for a perfect start. Revving through the countdown gives you wheelspin instead.
- Drifting and sitting in a rival's slipstream both fill nitro. Save it for the long straights.
- Brake before the corner, not in it. The walls slide you along, but grinding them costs speed.
- On a phone, hold it the way that feels natural when the race starts. That grip counts as straight, and ⟲ Center resets it at any time.
